How it all started

Tigard Covenant Church began as a small gathering of believers committed to following Jesus, meeting for prayer, Scripture, and community in the spirit of the Evangelical Covenant Church. In 1988, this group organized into a local church, rooted in biblical teaching, authentic relationships, and a heart for mission - foundations that continue to shape Tigard Covenant Church today.  We are a diverse group of people who aren't as concerned about being alike as we are about being like Christ.
Tigard Covenant Church is a member church of The Evangelical Covenant Church and part of the Pacific Northwest Conference (PACNWC).  The Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) is a  denomination in the United States and Canada, comprising nearly 1,000 congregations and approximately 129,000 members. Founded in 1885 by Swedish immigrants known as "Mission Friends," the ECC is rooted in Pietist Lutheran traditions that emphasize personal faith, the authority of the Bible, and a "living relationship" with Jesus Christ. It is one of the most multiethnic and intergenerational denominations in North America, with ministries spanning five continents.
