Go therefore and make disciples of all nations
Matthew 28:19
At Tigard Covenant Church, we are deeply committed to the work of missions—both in our local community and around the world. We believe the call of The Great Commission is not just a mandate, but a way of life. Whether serving our neighbors here at home or partnering with ministries abroad, we seek to share the love of Christ through word and action. Our heart is to be a sending and serving church, faithfully making disciples of all nations and living out the gospel wherever God leads.

Our Missionaries
Alex and Melanie Viana, Mozambique

The Viana's ministry is quite broad. We care for children, communities, women, pastors, and churches. We provide vocational training, self-sustainment projects for our centers and our communities, and we bring clean water into communities that have no water. By God’s grace, our ministry is almost completely led by Mozambicans. We, the global personnel, focus on training our pastors and leaders in Bible, theology, and leadership. We also help advise our Mozambican partners, with the understanding that this is their ministry. We are continually looking for what God would have us do next and how we can ensure that it is our Mozambican brothers and sisters who are leading.
Jochy and Tammi Hernandez, Dominican Republic
Jochy and Tammi Hernández serve as bridge builders in the Dominican Republic for those who feel unwelcome by the traditional church. God has called us to do a new thing in every sense of the word. Most of our ministry is based on sharing Jesus through the language of hip-hop/rap, sports, and gathering together as family—spending time together and eating with one another. God has been doing a new thing in the aspect of allowing Jochy (artistic name IronHeart) to use a fresh language to reach a new generation through music.
Tal Como Soy (Just as I Am) is a house-based church busting at the seams, and our emphasis is on building a family and breaking down walls of religious discrimination and teaching and showing the true character of a loving God. Deeply ingrained in all aspects of ministry is the understanding that God loves and accepts us as we are—and loves us so much that He doesn’t want to leave us where we are.
