Rejoice in the Lord
Philippians 4:4 tells us to Rejoice in the Lord. It actually tells us to do this twice in that one scripture. This is very important in the life of every believer in Jesus Christ. There are many circumstances in life that bring our spirits down. Sometimes those situations are frustrating for us. But when we focus on praising God and remember all the great things He has done and is doing for us, we can change our state of mind. Doing this takes discipline and focus. It helps when we are around other believers in Jesus Christ. I experienced this first hand last Tuesday at Tigard Covenant Church. At our weekly prayer meeting, we started our time by praising God for all He has done for us. Each person in the circle thanked God for what he has done for them. We didn’t ask him for anything; we just praised him for his goodness to us. It was a wonderful expression of people rejoicing in God, our Savior, and it really lifted our spirits. We had a rich time of prayer and fellowship.
