Words of Life: Repent or Perish – March 21st 2019

Repent or Perish

In Luke 13:3, Jesus makes a revealing statement. He tells the crowd to repent or perish. Repent means to have sorrow for our unbelief and then turn to God. Jesus is telling his audience that they must recognize the condition of their heart and turn to God. A friend of mine and I were talking about all the wicked and evil things that are going on in the world right now. The news reports of the awful things that people do saddens us, and my friend and I concluded that people need to turn to the Lord now more than ever. Left to ourselves, we sin and make irresponsible choices. When we allow the Spirit of God to penetrate our thought process and surrender to him, we are blessed. We start to do good works. We start to love people even when they don’t treat us well. When we repent of our sins and turn to God, it’s the beginning of a new day to walk in his love. True repentance means asking Jesus Christ to forgive you of your sins. Repent and be blessed.
