Words of life: “Running The Race” Feb 1st 2018

Words of Life

Running the Race

We are entering into the biggest game of the year in the sport of Football, the Super Bowl. The two teams that are competing for the prize ring and money are the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles. The winning prize money per player is $102,000. Each player has to discipline their bodies and their time to get a shot at winning. There is a verse in the bible that addresses winning for a different kind of prize. I Corinthians 9:24 says, “ Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in a way to get the prize.” We are believers in Jesus Christ and our prize is to make heaven our home and to see and please Jesus Christ. We please Christ by running the race faithfully and doing what it takes to win. To win means we are people that embrace Christ’s priorities. To win means that we live a life of sacrifice, meaning we put Christ first above the things that we want to do. To win means, we lead other people to Christ and serve them in meeting their needs. There is a special joy in serving the Lord. There will be a special reward when we see Him face to face one day and hear him say, “Well done thy good and faithful servant.”
